In a first for Australia, the Surf Coast Shire Council is using the Good Fish Project Chefs’ Charter as the ideal road map for becoming the first sustainable seafood municipality in the nation!
The Good Fish Project aligns with the Surf Coast Shire Council’s ambition to foster environmental sustainability for both residents and businesses.
The Council has helped fund the rollout of the Chefs’ Charter amongst local restaurants and fish and chip shops. They are supporting the first local restaurants to sign up to the program, and employing an outreach officer to help those pioneer businesses start their journey.
Matt Dempsey, a renowned local chef with a national reach, is working with the Good Fish Project and the Council as a regional Ambassador. Matt has two respected restaurants in the local area – Tulip and Gladioli – making him the ideal local figure head.
